Yealands Estate Single Vineyard Pinot Noir 2020

Yealands' Seaview Vineyard in the Awatere Valley of Marlborough is one of New Zealand's most coastal vineyards. The vines battle against the wind & elements producing small berries with thick skins and wonderfully rich and intense flavours.

The 2019 Pinot Noir fruit for this wine was picked when it was showing perfect ripeness and balanced fruit flavours. The separate parcels were fermented with a range of carefully selected yeasts. One portion underwent wild fermentation for added complexity. The finished wine was aged in a mixture of French oak barriques and cuves for 8 months whilst it went through malolactic fermentation. It was then blended, stabilised and filtered for bottling.

Notes of dark cherries, plums, violets and warming spices dominate the nose. On the palate, the wine is full and structured, yet elegant with flavors of luscious dark cherry, balanced with fine tannins and mineral acidity. The wine will age gracefully over the next 2 - 7 years. 13% abv.

This delicate Pinot Noir matches beautifully with red meat dishes, including roast venison, pork belly and lamb shanks.
