Babydoll Marlborough Pinot Noir 2020

Babydoll sheep stand barely two feet tall. Too short to reach the grapes, these pint-sized organic weeders provide year round mowing and pest control, plus a handy dose of fertiliser. Having Babydoll sheep graze in the vineyard cuts down on energy intensive mowing, and helps keep the brand at the forefront of sustainable wine production.

The wine is pretty special too. Aged for 9 months in a variety of vessels with a portion going to a mixture of new and older French oak barrels to complete a malolactic fermentation. This gives the wine added structure, texture, mouthfeel and toasted vanilla characters.

With rich aromas of boysenberries and red fruits, notes of mocha and spice, the flavour is rich, and full of juicy blackberry, balanced with gentle tannins and a gloriously subtle toasty finish. Superb on its own or paired with duck or lamb. 13% abv.
