SMOOTH, FULL & MELLOW! SINCE 1893
Since 1561, Mary Queen of Scots has embodied the enduring and noble values, history and independent spirit of Scotland. This exceptional, smooth, full flavoured Scotch Whisky still bears today the name of Mary Queen of Scots, "The Highland Queen".
Highland Queen was created in 1893, when Roderick Macdonald decided to venture into business for the first time. The company went under the name of Macdonald and Muir Ltd. Highland Queen was Macdonald and Muir Ltd.’s standard bearing brand for most of the 20th century. The brand name is derived from the association of the port of Leith - with Mary Stuart whose triumphant arrival in Scotland was in Lieth in 1561. She was later crowned Queen of Scots.
The gold amber coloured whisky has aromas of honey, apples and toffee. The taste is light bodied and sweet with the honey and apples initially detectable on the nose picked up on tasting. There is also a liquorice taste present at the back of the palate, which remains into the finish, which is short. 40% ABV.
