Kahurangi Estate is a family owned boutique vineyard in Upper Moutere, Nelson, dedicated to producing hand-made, premium quality wines in a truly sustainable manner. Their focus is on aromatic grape varieties that respond exceptionally well to Nelson's sunny, but cool winter climate.
Owned by the Day family since 1973, Kahurangi's wines reflect the true flavours and beauty of the Nelson region. Sourced from a selection of Nelson vineyard sites, 2020 was a stunning growing season. A dry Spring, followed by a hot, dry Summer with a little bit of rain pre harvest resulted with super ripe grapes, with concentrated, intense flavours and clean, crisp acidity.
Produced from fruit taken from selected growers across the Nelson region, the wine was fermented in stainless steel tanks, and matured with oak for 8 months with partial malolactic fermentation.
The resulting wine is medium gold in colour with aromas of yellow peach, fresh pineapple, mandarin and light oak derived spices. A beautifully crafted dry wine with stone fruit, citrus, touches of tropical fruit and lifted acidity adding structure and balance. 13% abv.
