Lake Chalice The Falcon Merlot 2021

Established in Marlborough in 1989, Lake Chalice is named after the wilderness lake in the Richmond ranges bordering the north of the Wairau Valley. Today the winery is a Marlborough success story – great wines, a tonne of awards and 100% NZ family owned.

New Zealand's endemic falcon – the ‘Karearea' – is proudly displayed on every bottle of Lake Chalice wine. Sadly, this magnificent raptor is now threatened, and Lake Chalice Wines work closely with the Marlborough Falcon Conservation Trust on the Karearea Release Program to repopulate our native falcon back into the Marlborough wilderness.

A select blend of vineyards sourced from the internationally recognised Hawke's Bay growing region. Once harvest we transported the grapes overnight to our Marlborough winery to carry out the fermentation process while at peak freshness. An intense nose of blackcurrants, wild berry and ripe black Doris plums. The palate is full bodied with dark red fruit flavours, spice & pepper notes, with hints of savoury oak. 13% ABV.
